Six weeks

It has been a couple weeks since my last post. I have sent my documents to Korea. I received my confirmation number, I think that's what they called it. It's the important number I had to put on top of my wonderful Visa Application. I sent my application to the Korean Consulate in Chicago. The person I talked to, by email not by phone (I don't believe they have a working phone in the office), said it will take 2-3 days to complete the process. After those 3 days my passport will be mailed back to me.

I am hoping that the next step is to figure out my flight. I told Thomas that I could not leave until the 15th of July. The school wants me there between the 15th and the 18th. I am basically at there mercy, so my fingers are crossed.

I am getting so excited. I am not just excited about leaving for a new country with new experiences but I am excited to meet new people. I will miss everyone at home, that is an understatement, but I am getting so excited to leave.

I got a new duffle bag that will be making the trip with me. It will hold about half of my shoes from home. So when I do have to start packing I think that will be the biggest wake up call. All my clothes, for a whole year, in two suitcases.

Two Months

Wow, it is getting so close. I just got my background check back for the second time. So it is done and apostilled thank goodness. I still need my diploma and my pictures. I am sure there is a list of other things that I can't think of right now.

I am graduating tomorrow. Talk about reality check. It took five years and so much effort but dang, it is finally happening. I guess the next step is to get my diploma, hopefully in the next two weeks and get that apostilled. It is all coming together with ease, which is almost concerning. I feel like the other shoe needs to drop, or whatever that saying is.

Holy moly it's coming up fast. I am hoping that flights stay looking good, so when they do book my flight it doesn't involve more than 1 stop and two airlines. Just thinking about the flight makes me feel a little squished. Oh well, it will be here and then I will be there before I know it.

Signed and Scanned

So I signed a contract. I will be teaching in Daegu South Korea at the Canada International School. I will be starting in July. I am so excited but so nervous at the same time. TeachESLKorea has been so helpful so far. They are so easy to reach when I have a question and my questions are always answered.

I am trying to get all of my paperwork together. My University has been very accommodating with preparing my documents to be sent out as soon as I graduate. I hope it all works out. I should be getting my FBI background check in the next few weeks. It will then be sent to both my school and then it will ned to be sent to Chicago for my visa process. It is very confusing.

I have already been in contact with a couple people over in Daegu and even one of the current teachers at my school. Everyone has been so nice so far, it makes me feel a lot better. I am getting excited to meet new people and terrified to leave home.

More to come, as the process continues.

Do I? Or don't I?

So today I heard for TeachESLKorea Recruiting. Their website is wonderful. I feel very confident with this company. I have so many thoughts rolling through my head. Did I get these forms? Do I need this form? Do I qualify for this? It is a constant state of panic, because I know what I want, I just don't have a lot of control over it.

Currently I am trying to decide if a TEFL certification is worth the money. I would need to do it online, and some reviews say that completing the course online is not as relevant. However there are others who say that it is just as good, and a cheaper, more convenient option.

I'm trying to decide if a public school job is worth the perks or if a private school is more up my alley for my first time in Korea. It's difficult to talk to many people here about it, because no one I know has done something like this, expect everyone thinks it's a great opportunity.

Currently this blog is short because I honestly just need to get my thoughts out there.
